Does attack posture include neighboring regions ?

Hi all -
If a corps/division/stack has the attack posture setting for that turn, will it attack enemy units outside of its region, assuming it is aware of them and can reach them that turn ?

This is what seemed to happen 2 times with Beauregards 50000 man army in the game I'm playing. His army attacked one of my corps travelling by in a neighboring region. :( In both cases the corps was 3-4 regions away when movement phase began and had been sitting still for the 2 previous turns, so AI/Beauregard (seemingly) couldn't have planned to attack them before the turn began.

If this is the case, will the human players units also behave in this manner ?

Hi
Not sure i understand your question...
No, stacks don't auto attack other regions no matter what posture they have.
if you oe the Ai don't give them move orders to that other regions they will remain still and attack or defend only on his own region.

The exception to this is the March to the sound of the guns system, when one corps engaged in battle can "call for help" to other corps of the same army in adjacent regions.
What you have seen is possibly that the Ai has ordered Beuregrad to follow and attack your corps.
The AI and you can do this easely: instead of targeting a region when dragging and dropping a stack to move it there, you can drag and drop the stack over OTHER STACK.
- If enemy, you will try to intercept them whenever they go (deppending of your speed and detection value you will chatch them or not).
- If friendly, the stack will follow and merge with the objective other stack when he catches up with it.

Hope it helps

Well then, either the player movement and the AI movement are not simultaneous, or Beauregard possesses voodo hoodoo powers !

Out of context, not knowing the regions involved in your question, it's impossible to assess. If the AI was moving Beauregard's stack in a logical direction then it's very possible your corps just done got rolled over. ;)
