new to game, patch problem

Hi all,

I am new to the game and wanted to introduce myself. I have been a fan of WW2 sims for some time, mainly the Silent Hunter 2/3 series. I am now shifting gears to the Civil War.

It seems that I am no longer able to load the game after installing the 1.13b patch. Let me qualify this by saying that I am running the game on a laptop that is far below the minimum specs on RAM/video card requirements. Out of the box the game loads and I am able to start the tutorial (although it takes forever to load the game, drags on textures). After applying the patch it stops loading at around 56% of textures and gives me an exe. error message and terminates the program. I have reinstalled the game and as before it loads without the patch. has 1.13b pushed my little laptop over the edge or could there be a problem with my download of the patch? Thanks for your input.

I disabled the "load all textures" during initialization and the game loads quickly

update - it now also loads after applying 1.13b. Hoping that whatever was causing the problem during the texture loading will not occur in the middle of a game!

hehe, yep! It won't always be that way I am sure. At first look this is a very detailed game that will take some time to learn.

Yes great info. I had been reading those threads, thanks to all who have put the time into assembling the information, before I got the game. Now that I can refer to them while playing it will make a lot more sense. They are all bookmarked!

As soon as you are able, buy a desktop that can run AGEOD games. They are all great. t
