Naval Supply Issues again

I am still having problems keeping my amphibious beachheads supplied. In my current 1862 GC game as USA, I have two rather large armies down at Savannah GA and in Florida. Problem is their Depots and cities/ports keep running out of supplies. In an earlier thread I think someone (Banks??) said that Naval transport fleets will automatically forward supplies to my troops if they are in the "Atlantic Shipping Box" off of the Eastern seaboard. Is this in fact true? Even thou I have tried that my captured cities / ports / depots still barely have any supplies, but lots of ammo in them. My troops are starving, but have plenty of ammo.

Any ideas to help me out?

Thanks,

Yeah you need to put more Transports in the Atlantic Shipping Box :)

What Comte says.
Also, as a short term emergency "manual" solution i believe that docking supply loaded transports on the ports with depots will transfer their supply there.
I'm not 100% sure but i think that having the transports on an adjacent sea region will also enable them to pass supply to land units on adjacent land regions.
But the automatic box solution is the best. And they also bring money and WS to you at the same time! :w00t:

Also make sure you didn't leave any forts behind you that would block supply.

Thanks....so I guess I need to buy more transport fleets, and park them in the Atlantic Shipping box??? I notice after a while that they take hits or loose supply themselves and then I rotate them back to a port to get repaired and supplied up again. Does that sound correct??

Yeah put them in the Atlantic Shipping Box and build up a reserve so you can rotate them in and out of the box because ships will take damage from storms, wear and tear and other such things. Building a reserve of ships will allow you to have transports always operating thus keeping your supply lines open. Of course theres an option to shut off the wear and tear of ships if you want :)
