A returning noob has 10 questions

I bought the game a while back & have since returned playing it. I like alot of the changes (still haven't fully grasped it all again, yet). However, I did have some questions. Some of them....like the militia & conscripts stuff still escapes me, and I do not want to loss ships to due my misunderstand/mistakes, either.

(1) I bought a monitor which appeared in Springfield, IL. I could not move the unit as it still had a red band around it (as if it was being built). As first, I did not think anything odd about it until many turns later it "died" due to a line in the text saying that it was land locked (as if it got attrited). At that point I thought it weird that it was placed at a city with no port. At least it does not look like a port is there. I wish I would have saved it, but I did not. Any ideas?

.....Never Mind on #1..... I see it is mentioned in the Hot Fix.

(2) If a port/harbor gets the Icon for Frozen, does that only block the port or the adjacent area, too?

(3) What happens to the ships in that port while it is frozen?

(4) What happens to any gunboats in the river?

(5) Do the supply wagons slow down units/stacks?

(6) Training Officer trait says that "If the commander, will train up to two regiments of conscripts to regular soldiers every turn.

6a) Does that mean he has to be the highest ranked officer in the stack? or combined with them as their division commander?

6b) What criteria meets that "if the commander"

6c) who exactly is considered a conscript? a militia? who?

7) If a militia unit gets trained up to a regular soldier, does it lose the State Militia tagged to its icon?

8) If a militia gets enough combat experince does it "rank up" to a regular soldier eventually?

9) The Recruiting Officer trait says "Can muster new Conscripts on a regular basis in cities of level 5+. Must be in the city to do so."

9a) That simply adds conscripts to the force pool, right?
9b) Not actually units on the field, correct?
9c) If so, how many?

10) Can I stack multiple recruiting officers in the same place and get the same benefit? Or is the 2nd officer wasted?

Here are some answers! :)

2) Both. In fact, the port is blocked just because the adjacent river/sea zone is frozen

3) Nothing but will not be able to move until spring.

4) I think they are automatically moved to the nearer friendly port or adjacent non frozen region.

5) Wagons are slow and use wheeled movement type (very bad on rough terrain or bad whether. They will slow down cavalry and infantry but move as fast as most arty (also wheeled movement) for what i know.

6) Commander means highest ranking leader on the stack. Check this ist for abilities application
http://www.leqg.org/doc/aacw/listability.php5
The Appliance column give you eth info you look for.
"Leader" means "if commander..."
"Group" means it doe not matter if he is ranking leader or not.
"Unit" mens if affects his division
"Self" only affect to himself

7) yes, i think they do

8) I think militia upgrades by event not by experience.

9) Yes, they increase the conscript point on teh pool. Don't add new units.
How many deepens of where they are. Put them inside the cities on the regions with more conscript points generation (Washington, Richmond, New York...) and look at the effect. They can nearly double them

10 i think its only one (the "commander" of the stack) so send on of them to each big city.

Hope it helps!

No. A militia is a militia :bonk:
Conscript is a inexpert standard infantry or cavalry units that can be improved to regular inf/cav by the training officer or (i think) also by gaining 1 experience star.
On the fist month of the war you will see quite a lot of this units.
Check the panel detail of the elements and on some you will see Infantry (conscript) of Cavalry (conscript) as the unit type.
They also have poorer stats than regular in/cav, but are better than militia,
