Ok, I have now run the demo campaign a few times (twice as USA, once as Confederation), and I think I have the hang of things (and will buy this as soon as I get to work where I on Friday happened to forget my suitcase (and in that suit-case is my wallet, my mobile phone plus some paper-work I intended to work with during the weekend, but happily I have now had time for other things as nobody have disturbed with silly calls and I haven't had the paperwork at hand ); notice: The fact that I already had a couple six-packs in the freezer for the weekend (and thus didn't have to drive home via the shop to buy some) has nothing to do with the fact that I didn't miss my wallet until Saturday).

However, there is still one thing that confuses me over and over again.

What exactly are the conditions I need to fulfill to make a one (or two or three for that matter) star general a division commander? I have had several times two commanders in same stack, and despite shuffling troops around, sometimes only one of them is willing to be a division commander Note, I haven't been even close to the 30/60 limit.

Which of the following need to be fulfilled for a commander to be available for division commander status:

1) Need to be active

2) Need to be un-locked

3) Need to have a brigade/regiment with him

4) Need to have a supply-wagon with him

5) The moon must be in correct azimuth to Mars

6) Something else that I have completly missed

As it is, I seem to be able to *never* make some commanders divisional, for example my hero Longstreet refuses to become a divisional commander even when others in the same stack and same troops. I shuffle things around, give and take divisions from commanders, and I don't seem to find the logic.

It would appear it is much easier to make army commanders and/or corps commanders than make one-star commanders divisional-commanders, so there must be something crucial I am missing

(Just joking. Do a search on the forum and you will find a million of similar posts Its the trickiest part o the interface)

To form a division the leader must
- be active (white envelope)
- you must have the needed resources to pay the "Create division" costs (10$, 1 Conscripts, 5 War supplies)
- the leader should not be already an army or corps commander (name over a gold band on the unit counter)
- The leader mustn't have a brigade/regiment directly attached.

(not sure about the locked unlocked status :bonk

Also, after enabling a leader as divisional commander be sure to add to his division at least a combat unit. If you left the division leader alone he will revert back to normal status (non div) next turn.

By the way, the 30/60 division limit was upped on one of the latest versions.
Before it was 24/48 max div.
Surely the old version used on the demo must be at 24/48 max

Thanks for the quick reply! I did search the forums for "division" and "requirements", but found, instead of what I thought I would, amongst other things an interesting thread regarding somebodys great-great-great-grandfather fighting in different units I prolly should have looked further back in history

My problem has been the fact that I recruit reinforcements and replacements *first*, thus not having enough resources available

Oooh I have another question. It says at the end that:

"If you click the "Remove Divisional Command"-button for the commander while the division is disassembled, you will free up a divisional command, e.g. for use elsewhere. This does not cost anything, but the cost you payed in forming the division is not returned either."

Is this right? As In say I create a division as stated. Build it up but find I don't want that division. Immediately break it up and press the 'Remove Divisional Command'.

I then end the turn. Will I still have to pay the cost at the end of the turn, even though I built and disbanded the division during the same turn?

You know, I read that wiki several times. Always started with the important stuff, ie Procedure to form divisions (which then begins with "Forming divisions is a multi-step process, outlined below", which procedure I then followed step by step), ignoring the "fluff" above it... It doesn't say anywhere in the procedure you have to have the resources at hand Damn evil to hide things in plain sight like that leure:

Hi

The cost is only paid when you hit the "Next turn" button.
So in a turn you can enable and remove divisional command and do all kind of combinations you want freely.
But once you hit the end turn button you will be charged for all new divisions that you have formed at that moment.

Yeah, I understand that the immediately preceding section, named "Cost of forming divisions" is a bit too clear to get registered
