St. Louis revolt

I confess to having very limited knowledge of the ACW, but the event which triggers in St.Louis did confuse the life out of me.

It would seem that one militia unit of Confederate soldiers in St.Louis manages to persuade a sizeable army of Union soldiers and most of the Union riverboats to sign up for duty.

While it was a lovely surprise, is this event perhaps a little overpowered or is it balanced by being ludicrously rare and I've just fluked out by getting it?

Hi

I think this eventas have a 60/40% possibility of happening or not.
It reproduce a historical "massacre" that happened there at the start of the war.
Unison soldiers, assailed by civilian mobs on the city responded to harshly, firing and killing a bunch of civilians.
The effect was to turn many of the Missouri population pro CSA while the USA assured himself contol of the arms and munition depots of St Louis.

On game, if the event fire, the USA recieves a great leader (Lyon) and some nice troops while the CSA receives a mediocre leader (Price) and some militias. But the major advantage to the CSA is that most of the state turns highly loyal to the CSA.
A real pain in the ass to the USA who have to control and garrison it. :bonk:
If the event does not fie, there is no extras units on any side, and Missouri remains pretty neutral and easy to control area.

If you have seen something different than this it could be a bug...

Hi arsan,

the event fired some months previously - and I received a general with 3 small 'brigades' of militia. A few turns after the event fired (c.late October), St.Louis revolted and it was me (CSA) who received Lyon and a sizeable army and fleet. I wish I'd taken screen shots now - but I received a large number of units at St.Louis, including Lyon and his men, a 3 star general, a decent admiral, c.300 points of land troops including three or four artillery units (one of them fortified), 8 flottillas of riverboats, a similar number of gunboats... All bar one militia unit were in Union colours and had the 'capt.' tag,

Is this perhaps a bug then? (Sadly, I deleted that save game as I was using it to test a few ideas out and only ran the game until early-Nov 1861).

All the best,

Zeb

Hi
Definitely, it was a BUG! ;)
It's a shame you don't have a save, as AGEOD could have used it to check the problem. If you see it again, save it and send it to support@ageod.com
I don't think it has any relation with the actual St Louis Massacre, that fired ok for what you explain. It must be a different issue...
The St Louis revolts is very unusual, as that region is pro USA no matter the event fires or not... :bonk:
In any case it seems you captured by mistake all the units the USA had on town... a similar problem was solved on the 1.1 patch...
Did it happen to you with the last patch?

Hi Gray!

Maybe its what was solved on 1.11... the capture of units on a town is they are embarked :bonk:
Zebedee does not says which patch he is using... maybe its before 1.11.

Hi guys,

I'm using patch 1.11.

It could well be file corruption as my download now is reading as being corrupt since being transferred onto CD and so is totally unusable for a reinstall. It could well have been corrupted to begin with. If it's my download of 1.11 which is corrupt, then I can't reinstall now. Oh well. :(

There was me thinking it was a nice little confederate bonus

All the best,

Zeb
