I have Bragg eagerly waiting to train conscripts, but have nary a one anywhere in the entire Confederacy. I have militia, light infantry, etc. No conscripts.
What does it take to get a conscript?

That's a good question. I know how to spot them -
From another thread by Arsan
"Many of the brigades you receive by event or buy as reinforcements also have conscript elements (ha brigade can have a mix of normal an conscript elements).
unit panel with a unit selected). That will open a Unit details panel. Here, the unit type will be identified as "Infantry" or "Infantry (conscript)". And the same with cavalry as Coregons say.
Besides, if you look and compare at the unit statistics you will see conscript infantry and cavalry had somewhat lower values than normal ones.
Unit graphics (at least on infantry) are usually a little different (less professional look, simpler uniform...)"
So I assume the ones by event are fixed. The ones you buy I'm not sure if it is random or fixed that different ones are conscripts and others line or not.
So here's what I did: Ran a turn with a draft and bought one of almost every brigade combination.
Almost every brigade bought in the South that has 3 or more units had 1 conscript inf or cav. All except one of the two infantry brigades ($19/20cp) were bought with 2 conscript units. Some of the 3+ brigades had 2 conscript units (1 inf, 1 cav).
I went back and did it again and the results were similar, but slightly different. Bought 4 brigades from SC that were (inf, inf, arty). 3 had a conscript inf, one had none. Bought 3 brigades from same state (inf, inf, cav) - all had 1 conscript inf, 2 of them also had conscript cavalry.
Note: Never saw a conscript in a 3 unit brigade including Sharpshooters, don't know if that means anything or is just the random selection at work.
I guess if you don't have any conscripts, wait and raise more units, they will come.
Maybe one of the more knowledgeable people here actually knows how to spot them prior to buying or knows the code on what determines when they come out.

Confederate conscript regiments usually cost 8$ (base), as opposed to 10$ (early war) or 12$ (late war) for regular infantry. They generally provide a strength of 22-23, as opposed to 26-27 for regulars. Conscript cavalry cost 9$ as opposed to 12$, and provide 19 strength as opposed to 22.

Yeah, what Jabber said. Ignore all that random stuff. I assume the slight differences I saw in my "simulations" were that conscripts all have a % chance to train up to line status every turn present, so some go to line status on arrival?
