Just a little something i noticed about the movie.

When the regiment is returning from their first skirmish with the confederates at James Island (think thats the place's name) there is a band playing a song in the camp. It sounds to me like the song is that "Southern rights" song that is played for the confederate generals in "Gods and Generals".

I am assuming that is a movie screw-up, what do you guys think?

The tune was used by both sides, the words are different depending on which version is being sung.

The mick sargent in the movie is a fellow I went to boot camp with John Finn. He really is qualified to do the military role having been a member of the Navy's UDT team and Seal team.

He's a great guy, you see him in a lot of shows since Glory was made.

No songs, but even tho I liked the movie a lot, the cavalry charge against northern lined infantry was a little far-fetched, even tho the southeners probably had little respect to think any black regiment would be their equal, I really doubt they would be that fool-hardy.
The irish sergent was indeed great and realistic.

Quick comment -- "Glory" = best Civil War movie of all time, to date.

"Gettysburg" = best CW battlefield film of all time to date, although it does go on a bit excessively.

"Gods & Generals" = trash...GOD, the multiple issues I have with this film!

Bravo for the lyrics. Just as the Yankees came up with a new version of Dixie for their invasion, the Southerners came up with a new version of it for their defense. Here follows yet another version of Dixie.

I'll take that over forcing a neighbor to mind his Uncle Sam any day. Not surprising that Lincoln said Dixie was one of the most rousing songs he had ever heard.

And of course, the best bit about 'Dixie' is that is was written by a Northerner.

One of the perks about being modern, I suppose. We can pick out any bit of value or beauty no matter where it came from or where we find it.
