While waiting anxiously for the game, why not singing an appropriate song? Just to mention that I am not from the South as I am Canadian

Well Syagrius, as a fellow Canadian (and "Great Invasions" player), I just feel I have to challenge you to a PBEM game of AACW when it comes out as I always play any ACW games as the Union.

The gauntlet is thrown, will you accept it?

Then you might one day make a Great Invasions 2 (based on ACW engine ) match...who knows

Seriously, I hope the music in AACW will be like BoA's music. By what I mean is that I like the way the background music in BoA will play for a while, then stop and then start playing again after a few minutes. Instead of playing in the background constantly, the music plays softly, then silence and then music again.That is just perfect for BoA. Sounds silly, but to me it's nice.

Don't dream too high...we can't do it before at least 2-3 years (lack of staff and money, not the will or data leure: )

I never understood 'Dixie'. The lyrics are so odd.

Dixie is about a former slave homesick for the old plantation.

No problem to add a fade out at the end of mp3-files. I could do it if it is needed.

Your opinion is supported by history. The original 'southern version' is known world wide, while the 'northern version' has been completely forgotten.

Just listened to "Dixie"....Sounds Great!!!!!!
I have been playing BoA and love it. Can't wait for ACW.

For a real 'rush' try Moron Gould's 'American Salute'. It opens with a powerful, staccato version of 'Johnny Comes Marching Home' and goes on from there. Not from the period as it dates from 1947, but still appropriate.

My favorite work from the Civil War era is 'Battle Cry of Freedom'. As with most popular songs there was a Northern and a Southern version of lyrics, but the 'Northern' is the real one.

Both Dixie and The Battle Hymn of the Republic can be incredibly moving if done well. The version of Battle Hymn done by the gospel choir in the Ken Burns documentary is one of the most beautiful songs I know, and I'm a CSA sympathizer.

Minstrel boy is very good. In the movie "Gettysburg" catholic Union soldiers are praying while the fanfare is playing it...almost made me cry leure: A great moment in the movie!
