Very sad day. I picked this up from the Wargamer. George McDonald Fraser died yesterday from cancer at age 82. Aside from writing a truely great historical fiction series around the Flashman character, Fraser was the real deal. For anyone interested, I highly recommend his memoirs dealing with his time as a British infantryman in Burma during WWII -"Quartered Safe out Here". Also, his "fictional" series dealing with life in a Highland regiment post WWII was very entertaining. I am going into mourning for the rest of the day :p leure:

Sad news indeed. Fraser is one of the great authors of historical fiction we've had. Oh - and he had a Bond movie on his conscience as well.
