Galactic Inheritors

I rarely have time to play and I often need to refresh my mind (especially away from History), so I sometimes indulge in SF and 4X games... (don't repeat that :D )

I bought yesterday a new release, Galactic Inheritors (see here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/322540/) in Early Access... it's rough still but looked promising. This was made by former Paradox Designer Chris King, whom I appreciate.

Well, I am pleasantly surprised... I found in this little gem in the making the old "just one more turn" feeling that is so lacking in many games nowadays. The game is fun, fast, simple and easy to manage and yet addictive. In addition they added new concepts that are unusual in the 4X genre, which I appreciate, especially all their stuff about Military-Industrial Complex or Media Campaigns...

Worth having a look IMHO. I will probably take another sip at it tonight

We don't seem being able to create our own race, so I think MasterOfOrion2(1996) is still unsurpassed..
I liked playing "peace&love"; with mainly spies&saboteurs in war, even really not efficient for it is very random and some costly.

I rarely buy anymore Early Access titles, too many fail to deliver, although I do that if what I'm seeing is very positive and want to support the developer. This is what I have done with Sunless Sea, I bet on the horse and see, it is now out and raking up notes averaging 9/10!

Back to Galactic Inheritors, what I read some months ago in Space Sector website was not very thrilling, as the game seemed simplistic and without much innovation. Now taking a second look with the screenshots provided on Steam, I see cool stuff, like Diplomacy split in 4 behaviors/feelings and the possibility to have several shipyards held by different companies. Somehow it reminds me of Aurora (when Dwarf fortress complexity have a child with an excel sheet!). :)

Game starts looking interesting with potential, I'll add it to my wishlist and see how it matures, good pick!
And that's good to play when you develop PC games, this 'broadens the horizon'! Why do I say play? We are doing case study!

Oh, Aurora, how can we forget the immersive graphics and its intuitiveness :D

Seriously, I really fell in love with Aurora 4X at first sight... never found a 4x more comprehensive (although full of problems).

I will soon take a look at this "Galactic Inheritors"... Chris King deserves trust.
