Well, well, well - from what I understand AGEOD has a game developped in-house :)

Any ETA on the announcement of what this game will be ? That would be nice

I don't know, I'm not sure if us fans are ready yet for another Super Call of Battle Shooter Ops Duty. ;)

I heard it was a new concept, AACW 2 with a twist : North vs Zombies.

This will surprise the market and open AGEOD to new players, the zombiciendos

I just don't understand the current generation's fascination with zombies??? I mean, zombies seem so one-dimensional. I'm more of a vampire person. At least vampires tend to be rather more complex characters, and then there's the warrior vampire Kate Beckinsale. ;) Still in all, some kind of post-apocalyptic game that includes zombies, like a strategic version of Bethesda's Fallout series, might be cool.

They're working on a new main game, as well as on AJE expansions? It seems to me a success, doesn't it? :)

I like zombies, well they have limited conversation but still... imagine the endless power source of a zombie walking toward a piece of meat in circle (picture a noria but replace the donkey by a zombie). At last mankind would have found the fabled 'perpetual energy source'. What remains of mankind anyway.

I actually believe there are one or two zombie survival board games. A turn based zombie survival game developed by AGEOD. Hmmm... would probably go way into sub-sub-genre territory, but it would certainly would be different.

But if it's zombie horror and civil war alternate history you're fond of, then enjoy 'Exit Humanity.'

Since finishing all six of the Alea Jackta Est scenarios I've been giving it a rest and playing Distant Worlds; a real-time grand strategy scifi game marketed by Matrix. I have to say that Distant Worlds is amazing! I've never played anything quite like it. Also, and I never thought I would say this, I think the real time (pausible) grand strategy system like Distant Worlds or Europa Universalis actually works better than a turn-based one, simply because it tends to avoid all the late game tedium you typically see in big turn-based 4X games like Sid Meier's Civilization series.

Anyway, there seems to be a big market out there for 4X space games, and a lot of game developers have been jumping on the bandwagon with varying degrees of success. Maybe it's time that AGEOD gave it a try?

BTW, I would love to see someone do a 4X game based on Frank Herbert's Dune, though I imagine getting the rights to do it would probably be expensive. As the Fremen say, Bi la kaifa! (Long live the fighters! ;)

I'm still struggling to get into SMAC (Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri) let alone Galactic Civilizations. Elite about 1983 was enough, there is too much history to worry about without trying to mess with the future.

Well, SMAC is maybe getting a bit long in the tooth now, what with that game being nearly 15 years old. Still in all I thought it was a wondrous gaming experience that definitely took the high road. I mean, how many games can you think of that have 'Transcendence' as one of the ultimate goals? Concerning GalCivs, I know that series has its fans, but I could never get in to it. The GalCiv universe always seemed kind of sterile to me, unlike the rich universe of Distant Worlds that is teaming with life and surprises.

I hear you about too much history yet to do. I mean, with Alea Jackta Est alone there are a lot, and I mean a lot of really interesting scenarios they could do, including the Byzantine Empire.

Still in all, it would be interesting to see what kind of science fiction game AGEOD could come up with. I'm sure it would be quite unlike anything else out there. :)

Different group made RUS.

I really like Distant worlds, but on the contrary as it is in real time, I find myself constantly pestered by minutes events... On the contrary turn based system bundle events in one lot and I find this more practical.

Will that group then also make new games/addons for RUS in the future?

Actually something I am completely indifferent for, since I enjoy both. Though I had fun times watching discussions between the defenders of each system.

if AGEOD decide to work on a sci-fi game then they should check out this board game

In DW you can automate nearly all the minor minutes events in a clever, finetuned way and save and re-use your personalized rules. Like, colonial bulldings triggered by population number.

It's by the way one of the very few RTS games which imo are playable. Same with the Command Ops series, but this is tactical/operational.

My problem with *home-made* SciFi settings is, mostly their *stories* are shallow & boring compared to *real history*. And the popular SciFi settings are too expensive to be adapted as a game.

Best regards
