The real Europa Universalis

Some might think that the game offered by Paradox(a pretty good game by itself) is the real representation of EU.
In fact this is the real EU and in my opinion still the superior version due to 1) Turn based 2) More depht.

Anyone else but me think it is time for a real conversion or is there some limitation legally to what Thibaut can do with this? I think the target audience would be somewhat different anyway, this is for hardcore strategy gamers as far as I am concerned.
I never got to try those extensions btw, were there more planned?
Here is a nice excerpt from a typical game also, you will see just how exciting a multiplayer session can be.

Also a question to AGEOD team members:
Do you guys think the current engine used in PON could work for a proper translation or would you require a totally new base engine for it?

To be very clear, I sold the rights to eU to Paradox quite a few years ago, so there is no way that anything can be done on this game without Paradox giving their approval.
The boardgame was indeed fun, and I know there are some board games undergoing by email, mostly using Cyberboard module
The scale of EU (boardgame) is vastly different from the AGE engine, starting with turns representing 5 years divided into 2 to 10 impulses (and not a set unchanging duration of 2 weeks per turn!)....so IMHO making such a game on the AGE engine would mean quite a challenging adaptation and a very thorough analysis of the turn's duration

I see, given that Paradox publishes your games maybe the idea isn't too far fetched

.
But there is another path I see. Using all your experience from previous games and of course PON, why not think about something similar to EU but maybe more adapted to how computer games work? I see this whole period vastly under represented in gaming and some of us at least want the depht your games offer. I know Johan loves real time but I love turn based so there is a market for both.
I am just reading a very good book on the Medici family, who needs fiction when there is reality to draw ideas from

Nah, let Paradox deal with realtime toys. Ageod should continue the path they are on.
some ipad love would be nice though. thibaut should look at how popular knizias gamws are.

I'd like more sandbox-ish game but not as complex as Pride of Nations or other global strategy. Maybe something of Civilization style and AGE battles. Diplomacy, simple economics with province upgrades, simple tech and researched (based on events and trade, not this usual "let's invent wheel" thing). But of course there's a problem of campaign length - you can't make 100 years campaign with AGE-style battles and you won't have noticeabl economical/technical/diplomacy development. Tricky.

Am I alone here in being a little tired and bored of the Clausewitz engine? I know Paradox has really tweaked the hell out of it for Crusader Kings and the the new EU game, but to me the limitations and frustrations of the engine are starting to outweigh their benefits.
Like I said in an earlier thread, the strengths of all these engines should somehow be combined into a single engine, capable of rendering a decent operational 3D interface like in the Total War series along with a turn based strategic planning map such as the AGEOD games use. I love Crusader Kings 2 overall, but constantly having to click and micromanage a dozen counties and provinces while at the same time marching very abstract armies into battle halfway across an always changing diplomatic map is a recipe for frustration and a splitting headache.
Sticking to the theme of this thread, I think I'll summarize my point by saying that the Paradox team needs to sit and look at a board game for a few minutes and just soak it in. If a board game, any board game, was to become a real world thing created by Paradox, it would be a board game that had to drive across town to do a dozen errands, pick up the kids from school by 3, grab some dinner on the way home, and make sure that the princess of Sweden was married into the duchy of Flanders by 9. I think the Paradox team has an evil plan to give all war-gamers ADD. It's the only possible explanation.
