Crunching the numbers...

It is obvious that AACW is Ageod's most popular title thus far (according to the amount of posts on the forums). I am curious as to how their other titles stack up fiscally.
f the development team wouldn't mind sharing...what are the approximate total sales figures (worldwide, both via download and store purchase), to this date, of all Ageod titles.
NOTE: I am speaking strictly of Ageod works, not games like "Great Invasions" where they simply were the publisher.
If this is too bold a request, please lock this thread or delete, and accept my apologies in advance

There is no harm in asking
(But that's all I can say about it; I don't have the information you're asking for, nor is it my call whether or not it should be shared

)

What was that, about 14 minutes that time? Not bad
Thanks, just curiosity as to the success of Ageod, in terms of dollars. In other words, I WANT this company to succeed, and wish to know their progress to date

I prefer to speak of net income only, sorry

Lets say that life is hard and that we are only able to get enough money for the next game, plus expand a bit. That's all I can say, unless PhilThib want to say more

We are far from having stroke the mother lode, even for AACW. The wargame market (AACW can qualify) is so 'niche' now... One positive point, that differentiates us from many others wargame products, is that retail publisher are very happy of the sells. It seems our games sells much better than others PC titles, for a given number of box placed in shops. This is is clearly positive. Can I say proudly "we stand out"?

What is still missing is a bigger community. So far, it grows slowly, too slowly for our taste. If you have special connections or ideas to attract more people on the forum or website, you're welcome to expose them!

Not easy to figure out... because we do not have all the figures, as some of our subpublishers never communicated them (SFI just to name one

)... however, calculating what I know and what I can estimate on all titles since BOA1, I'd say the the figure is slightly over 100,000 units all titles, all modes of sales

A great 4X space title would do the trick for income.

For sure, but we would need a good scenario, story, and universe... Freedom in the Galaxy, Death to the Cylons !!!

A Babylon 5 wargame with scenarios for Narn/Centauri War, Earth-Minbari War, and the big one: Shadow War.

I would favor a Rebel/Empire paradigm, allowing a dual style of play. We should strive to get a known license indeed, that would be cool.
But we are talking about the far future here, our roadmap is already quite full, and after VGN greats things await us

Paradox has ammassed 8.000.000 posts & 110.000 members (some extra years...)
versus
Ageod 100.000 posts & 4.500 members
Eventually all Paradox fans (as myself I am) can be turned also into Ageod believers
and a good Fantasy game (orcs and elves) can also add a lot extra fans to the party.

Please! No more wizards, orcs or space cadets! Stick to what you do best, historical simulations! There are plenty of real life monsters, I don't need eight legged bugs from Uranus. There are other companies for that.

I agree, a post on the Wargamer the other day mentioned the lack of a decent Orc and Elf strategic game. Something I would love to play.
I love the historical games and I hope AGEOD will always make them but a decent fantasy game could be a money spinner.
It must be a lot easier to make a game without having to worry about geographical or historical accuracy, you can do with it as you like.
Cheers, Chris
Oh P.S. if it's Sci-Fi; Blake's 7

When a third-party publisher sells an AGEod game, approximately what is your cut?
What I'd like to know is: If we purchase AGEod games from third-party publishers (such as Matrix), how much does AGEod lose vis-a-vis our purchasing the game directly from AGEod?
Even if we have to pay more buying directly from AGEod, if you guys get much, much less from third-party sales, we support you better by buying directly from you. But how much better?

The ratios are quite simple:
* If you buy from us, we keep most of the sales value (once deducted all costs for download, shipping, finance, etc...), within 45 days.
* If you buy from another DL supplier, we recover at best 70% of the sales value, usually much less (50%), within 45-90 days
* If you buy from a retail shop, we recover less than 10% of the sale value, within minimum 120 days, sometimes much worse...
You see where AGEOD's interest lies

OMG, that bad, huh?
I'll make every effort to purchase directly from AGEod in future, then. (I bought AACW by way of Matrix. My intention is to buy NCP and BOA2:WIA--from AGEod!--sometime this autumn.)
