Can someone explain the arithmetic to me in the calculations shown by the tooltips on the top left?

For example mine currently shows:

29 next to the coin symbol

Tooltip:

7 (+98)
Variations during past turn:
Initial amount :2
Changes from cities income: 98
Changes from units replacements: -32
Changes from maintenance: -25
Changes from events and strategic decisions: 0
Final amount: 7

Inflation: 0%

-1 next to the war supplies symbol

Tooltip:

5 (+11)
Variations during past turn:
Initial amount :0
Changes from structures productions: 11
Changes from options and events: 0
Final amount: 5

I can't get these to add up.

I'm having the same problem. And the consequence seems to be that you never have enough funds to create new units. I'm finding that by the time I get to the 2nd summer of the game, my Parliamentary armies have been decimated and there's no way to recover - are you finding the same?

My suggestion, turn off auto-replacements. These are eating up your budget. Once you turn this off you will have much more control over your purchases.
