Problem

I have just received the game Thirty Years War that I bought through Amazon. After installation when I introduced the serial number exactly as it appears in the CD, I have tried to play. But when I try to launch the game, a message telling me that the serial number is not correct appears. I have confirmed that it is exactly the same that the one is printed in the CD. What is exactly the problem? How can I solve it?

Perhaps Windows prevented changing a file, depending on whwre you installed the game.

The serial is stored in the file General.opt that should be in the folder \Settings

You can open it with a text editor and add/change the serial, you should see a line like this:

Code: Select all

Serial number (unencrypted, keep this file for you only)
    Serial =

Save the file and open it again to check it is OK.

Thank you four your answer Nikel.
I have found the file General.opt where you told me, but the number that I have found there is the right one.
I have also seen a message saying: Impossible de créer le fichier "C:\Program Files (x68)\Matrix Games\Thirty Years War\Querying". Access denied.
Any additional suggestion?
Thank you again for your attention!

Also, make sure you use the Run as an Administrator for both the install and beginning the game.
You may want to uninstall and reinstall.

Looks related with admin privileges as says Durk.

"C:\Program Files (x68)" folders are managed "carefully" by Windows.

I install the games in a different folder, for example "\Matrix Games" or "\Games".
