This might seem like a dumb question, but I simply haven’t gotten that far in the game yet ...is the French phase of the war well represented? In other words, will I see the French army, Turrene and Conde’, etc? Because I am looking forward to this and want to spare myself the disappointment if not. Thanks!

Oh yes indeed. France is a major player in the war.
One really nice design feature is that one decision may take you down ahistorical paths. But you can usually gain France's intervention.
