Saxony changes sides still a mess

It is getting old : Am at war with Prussia in july 1806 (btw I had to declare war myself when they attacked bavaria in fall 1805, the minor /major war mess thing) and instead of having to go all the way round Brunswick with all my forces I declared war on Saxony to go through it as well. As I slowly advance because I build shitloads of depot supplies on the way to make sure I don't starve (i feel like a Grand siècle general, not Napoleon btw) i eventually storm Dresden aaaaaaaaaand....

Saxony switches sides and my forces are expelled out of Saxony which becomes neutral and impassable... This is just stupid. Saxony switches sides can only have one result ingame : Saxony becomes France's ally allowing the french troops to keep passing through and to build supply depots as well.

It's really beyond frustrating, it ruins the flow of the game and is the type of thing that just makes you want to switch off the computer and do something else... Which is exactly what I am going to do.

Could anyone tell me where I can find the Saxony changes sides event ? I'd like to have a look if I can't just either get rid of it or change it to make it like the Duchy of Warsaw event a bit : make Saxony an immediate member of the french alliance.

Ok found, in the flavor events. I am going to see if by making Saxony a member of the french alliance in this event it avoids the mess of throwing all french forces out.

hurray it worked !! A simple fix that could have been made ages ago : just replace the add peace command by the add member alliance command (i copied it from the duchy of Warsaw creation in the POL events replacing POL by SAX in the command) and the french units stay in place and the game can continue. A simple fix a dimwit like me can do. It should be added to the next beta patch really because this is annoying as hell.

I wonder if SettleWhitePeace would be good too, if the hitorical result should be neutrality?

let's keep it simple : Saxony switches sides, let's make it switch side. If one wants to ensure that they don't actively fight, we can fix their units for a while and prevent them from recruiting as well for a while too. They don't have much left anyway.

"The Designer" has asked me to make it White Peace.

Law of Unintended Consequences:
There are subsequent historical events that Coalition might conflict....

Remember this is Historically based wargame, not SandBox global conquest...

...but you now see how easy it is to mod for what you want! That's what got me started with AACW mod, that led me to current "adjunct faculty"...

To me what is important is that it is fixed and since this isn't complicated programming, "the designer" could have helped avoid this mess by making a simple change.. now I don't know how to untie the alliance thing i've had to mod just to be able to keep playing a game I am doing my darn best to try and love but god is it a mess and a poorly betatested at that.

Yes, but there's some very a-historical things going on. Of the 190k starting British forces, 60-70k were on garrison duty. Not currently reflected. The British built transports specifically to transport a corp of troops to the continent because the rest were being used transferring troops between their overseas holdings. Again, not reflected. The British only committed 50k troops (2 corp) to the continent, which isn't reflected in it's 5000 cbt unrestricted starting army. They didn't draft IRL, and they do in WON. They will easily build a force equal to the size of France by end of war.

I'm reviewing the Spanish Ulcer events. If France is stupid enough to invade Portugal, Britain gets a Portuguese Corp and British Corp, led by Wellington, for FREE and automatically showing up in Portugal without the need of British transports. What French player (multi-play or single play) would EVER invade Portugal?

You've created a linear, historical game, with limited replay because of it's linear nature and certain parts of it will not ever get invoked because of the ungodly affects. France can't stop the events from happening in Portugal. So France will never invade Portugal. Historical, but not thought out. I'm also getting the feeling you put certain events in to overcome the limited AI. Fine for single play, but blows out multi-play

You are right about being able to mod, but trust me, this is a nightmare in terms of effort. Having to break up all these events into individual files so I can figure out what's going on. Finding non-AI events mixed in with AI Files, so they were buried. Naming conventions all over the map. Just finding all the Spanish Ulcer events is challenge.

evt_nam_GBR_BritishPeninsulaLandingTimer
evt_nam_GBR_BritishLanding1808
evt_nam_FRA_CaptureOfPorto
evt_nam_Beresford_Portugal

I have to go through these 59 ulcer events (and there's probably more) and look through each event to figure out what other events are being used because you didn't follow a naming convention. Something simple like evt_nam_SU_FRA...., where SU stands for Spanish Ulcer would have helped.

It's not easy.
