Leader Portraits v 1.01

With the new patch, some Leader portraits don't appear when combined with a Division. Prior to the patch, this happened occasionally, but cleared up after a turn, or when moving the subject unit in, or out of a stack:

WAD, those are generic portraits. Look up the changelog, the devs have this as one of the changes. I prefer it this way than to have two identical divisions next to each other.

I believe I saw in the patch changelog that this is working as designed. I think that the "generic" general portrait is now supposed to disappear when combined with divisional forces.

I could certainly have misunderstood it, though.

No, you are right...they are indeed 'hideen' by their units (in order to avoid the clone wars effects)

I'm not sure I under stand the clone wars issue. It's very confusing now, as both divisions and brigades with attached leaders show troop icons rather than leader portraits. Please fix this back. Divisions should have the leader portrait on top. If you want the brigades with attached leader to show the attached unit, ok, I don't much care for it, but ok...but not the division.

To be honest I sort of preferred it with leaders on top : as soon as a unit is combined with a leader (ie generic or with historical portrait), the leader is on top. This to me made sense, and regarding the clone wars, the hope is that more and more generals portrait get modded into the game as to diminish this for the major nations anyway.

It' no biggie, but I prefered it as it was before.

I understand the close war issue now, thanks. Where they lots of complaints about this? I don't recall this being a deal/issue/problem.

My point would be its an organizational thing. The leaders on top helps a player quickly see the organization of a force, who needs a leader or to be added to a division. This new method makes that more difficult. Now I have to hover over units to see who is leading them. It adds another another level of clicking and searching for information that used to be quickly accessible.

I liked the leaders "on top" too.

EDIT: After playing some more, I definitely prefer the leaders "on top." At a glance, I can see what commanders are in a stack, what their ratings are, and who and where what leaders are up for promotion. The way it is now, I have to click through the units - not optimal. Also, just because a leader doesn't have a unique portrait, he's being relegated to "second class" status.

At least make this an option.

I too prefered the old way. Hopefully some modder will add a lot of missing general pictures in the coming months as in other games, reducing the "clone wars" problem
The best of both worlds of course would be having the option to choose leaders or units on top.
I kind of recall that option was availible on some of the older AGEOD games, isn'it?? On AACW maybe?
