EAW 1.04 Beta (March 30th Update)

Change log:

- Doubled weight of land units (to avoid excessive railing of units)
- Updated Camel Brigade build areas to be RecruitArea_ARA (previously, GBR Camel Brigades were set to build in Britain!)
- Update WW1_Surrender events so Britain can surrender if it is Human controlled, and to set BlockState = 2 for Archangelsk when Russia surrenders (avoids German going there if they happen to be in St. Petersburg)
- Message display upgraded to include graphical improvements from WON

Increase of weigth is very welcomed, that's something really needed (I'm playing more CWII now and it's very encouraging to have bottlenecks with infrastructure).

Item #3 in the ChangeLog deals with Russian units getting trapped in Archangel. It should resolve this issue.

It goes where End Wall Wars is installed (the parent folder of the location of your EAW.exe file).

Will there be a general clean up of in-game text as well? Various typos, wrong names on the map, etc.

I am wondering if there was an additional undocumented change with the new patch and supply. Playing Central Powers in the campaign, I have noticed that I have real supply problems as the Germans now in Russia. I am not talking deep in Russia, I am talking still in Russian Poland west of Warsaw. I have been leaving plenty of railroad capacity, but slowly but surely the 12 or so supply wagons I have with my three armies outside Warsaw have been depleted. This is even after resting them on green/green with almost all my rail capacity unused. I like the idea of needing to be near rail lines, but I am wondering if, in doubling the weight for land unit transport, the rail cost of moving supply was also doubled?

CP loses something like 20NM in 1916 due to Franz Jospeh and the Czechs, this needs to be compensated by an early lead in 1914-1915.
I usually get a lead of 10-15 NM by late 1915 and i am prepared for the losses of 1916.
However, ever since NM balancing came, my lead is less than 5NM, twice or even thrice my opponents have got free NM esp. the WE which has too many events already to increase NM.
Please advise how to disable this function in MP games, totally weakens CP.
As all a WE player has to do is build and build and then do all out assaults regardless of WIN/LOSS. Already WE gets "Front-Loaded" manpower from the British unlike the "Real War" where British manpower kicked in only from 1916 onward. This NM balancing is proving bad.

Basically, the game has a huge flaw, which my opponent is exploiting excellently.
I have sent the last 3 turns, he attacks, loses NM, keeps attacking, loses more NM and men and then gains 5NM each turn due to balancing and ends up with more NM than he starts.
The problem is both sides start doing it, War is over in 1915 for CP. I really request the admins to do something. Both "Phils" and "Altaris" please see and advise.

I've started PBEM with this beta version. But steam just updated to 1.03.1 (Aug 31) today.

They are built in Britain. Seems I have to apply beta version again.

I had erased my beta folder for I thought it had become obsolete with the new patch..

What is the most current version of the EAW patch? There is a version 1.04 (30 March 2016) posted above and a version 1.03.01 (2 Sept. 2016) posted on the Matrix site. Aside from one being "official" and the other a beta, I would like to know which is truly most current. Please advise.

I have the Steam version of the game.

Please advise if I should overwrite my Steam version with this 1.04 patch, in order to get the latest version?

depends if you want beta version or not :).
as you see. latest beta 1.04 fixes some things, but it is beta, meaning it can have (or not) some stability problems compared to 1.03 latest full oficial patch.

The good news are that Altaris said after WSS and that he had a list.

Sorry to raise this again, but I'm confused. The 1.04 beta seems to be dated earlier than the 1.03.1 patch (though, obviously, it has a later number - 4 not 3). Can someone who knows tell me which is the latest? Thanks.

1.04 is the latest version. IIRC, the date on the 1.03 patch on Matrix website is when they linked it to the Matrix page, rather than it's release date. Since it was delayed getting added on Matrix it shows with a later date.

I would recommend going with 1.04. I'm not sure if it's available on the Steam version though.

It's not available from within Steam. I don't know why? But I can just take the matrix version - when Durk tells me where it is - and apply it to the steam install. Usually no probs doing that. At the moment I'm just waiting for someone to tell me where the latest 1.04 is. Durk says its an april 16 version, but I can't find that anywhere.

The last version is the one posted by Altaris in the first post of this thread.

When you run it, the game should display:

1.04 (Beta Patch 1.02 - April 2016)


It was not made official, so not available in Steam, just was posted here to be tested.
