Building Rail

Historically both sides during the war laid miles of railroad tracks on the western front to help supply troops and to use the railroad guns. It would be nice if there was an option to build railroad tracks in the game.

You convert the existing tracks to your own when you capture the region, that should be it. If you take the total km built and put a % on it, it will come to less than 2% of the total track length. Can be ignored for the game.

AGEOD engine doesn't currently allow for building new rail lines. The closest which could be accomplished would be to add damaged rail lines in certain spots which had to be "repaired" (built) to function.
Probably too much effort considering the limited scope of rail lines built during the war.

It can actually be done with the 'Dynamic Graphics' feature, i.e a custom graphic is added on the map, conditionally to an event occurring. For example in AJE, as scenarios span several centuries, the Roman Roads are displayed historically using this feature. I also believe that there is a graphic for the Hadrian Wall appearing at some point

Just imagine all that can be done, map alteration by events!

If that's possible, it's beyond amazing. Not only for rails, but high level fortifications or trenches, being permanent on the map, being taken over by the enemy or abandoned. I mean, isn't this how depots work, in a way? Yes, it's a unit action, but the depot graphic is added when the 4 supply trains are used up. Obviously I understand very little, but it just sounded great

@Pocus,
can we use the Hadrian Wall code to recreate the - Hindenburg Line events in the game, esp. for 1916 Start.
The Retreat to the Hindenburg line shortened the line for the Germans, freed up 14 division equivalents, considering the total strength on the Western Front at 150 divisions, that means nearly 10% and also strengthened the lines to be able to withstand the pounding from the English in the Third Ypres.
The Political ramifications were disastrous due to the scorched earth policy, Brit Intelligence had a merry time exploiting it and publishing the photos in USA, but militarily it was a definite success, one of the best Military Withdrawals in the War, Tactically and Strategically a sure success for Ludendorff.
Maybe have 5% US swing to Entente and in return 5 NM gain and maybe 300 Manpower Gain for the CP.

It's quite possible, but it will probably have to be done by volunteers though, the team is already stretched thin and we are concentrating on fixing events, data and code if need bed.
