Latest QuickFix to address community items brought up on the boards. Full list of changes at bottom of this post.

These changes may not be fully compatible with existing games. Most fixes should work within current saves but some of the event changes may not operate exactly as expected.

To install, extract the EAW folder in the zip file over the EAW folder in your installation directory and accept any changes to files. When you next launch game it should indicate the Version 1.04, Beta 1.03 with date of May 2019.

List of changes:

- Fixed Hungarian 1 brigade on Lvl 2 Infantry
- Removed *Charge* from cavalry, hopefully this makes them less lethal as reported
- Reserves no longer upgrade
- Fixed PBEM Balancing events
- Changed Mediterranean Blockade events to adjust Italian and Ottoman loyalty at end of turn, and only if in the CP (please note, these effects take place at the *end* of the turn where the message is displayed, there was not another way to do this within engine design without a complete rewrite of system)
- Added an event to re-add Rasputin if he should be in Russia at the end of each turn
- Adjusted Armenian Genocide event to only affect neutral countries

Still Pending:
- Japanese units outside Pacific theater should be forced returned to Japan at end of turn, I have verified this is working in my saves, if you are experiencing issues here, please provide an example save.

A few questions just to be sure.

- The patching procedure then should be:

Setup + 1.04 beta + this quick fix?

- Scens folder. I see several old and 2 new scenarios.

"3 - The Great War.scn - Shortcut.lnk"

Besides the name, the size is just 1.342 bytes? There is also an old "3 - The Great War.scn", from 2015 and 2.461.011 bytes.

"2 - The Guns of August.scn". Updated and that seems correct in size.

- GameData, models and units subfolders.

The .cached files should be included in the patch?

Also I see in the respective folders, alias.ini files, but in the game installation they are inside "\EAW\Aliases".

1) Yes, this is the correct installation order
2) You are correct, I accidentally copied scenario 3 over as a shortcut link instead of the .scn file, I have corrected it in the current download link
3) Cached file is fine, the alias files haven't changed it's okay for them to be in the models/units folders too

If I reinstalled game again. I must first install patch 1.03, then 1.04.

1.04 was beta and never official, however was not a quick fix like this, was a comprehensive patch.

So like commented before:

Setup + 1.04 beta + quick fix.

Yesterday, I reinstalled game :
Installed game
Patch 1.04
QuickFix

After that I discovered bugs:
(1) No avatars on some Leaders
(2) No Attack / Defense Buttons

I reinstalled game again:
Installed game
Patch 1.03
Patch 1.04
QuickFix

Now everything works correctly! Who is right?

You are right evidently

Checked side by side both patches.

In 1.03 there is a graphic folder absent in 1.04, includes some Russian Generals portraits.

The buttons should be in the original setup, so no explanation for that.

My guess is that 1.04 is only inclusive if you have the expansion,do you have it?

Join the club. If it's the actual EAW 1.04 Beta (March 30th Update) you're after you'll find that in the eighth post from the top in the "Help improve EAW" forum. But if it's the Quickfix that you're looking for (as in your post header) you'll find that first up in the Tech Support forum.

No, I found the link and maybe I wasn't being careful and specific enough. I know where the link is, but the link is not getting me to the 1.04 Beta Patch. I was able to get the quickfix file from dropbox, but not the 1.04 Beta patch that is linked in the 8th post.

I was wondering if there was any known problem with it, or was it just the quirkiness of Dropbox.

Aha, got you. I've just tried the link there and it worked, but only after I'd overridden Google's Drive's virus scan - so maybe there's a recognition problem somewhere.

Ok, can I get the links for the quick fix......have the still getting these critical errors. I think I have had enough these days of AGEOD older games. Just get the same issues. LOL

First post in this forum, ET. And you're right about the older games. Altaris has gone out of his war to fix the really crippling issues and work around some of the minor ones, but EAW carries all the marks of having been pushed through development before its system could be adequately tested and refined.

Ok so Vanilla with no updates = 1.03 and the + the 1.04 beta is that correct?

Quick fix = 1.04beta at the top of the thread?

My version is EAW 1.04(beta 1.3 May) iirc.....is that good enough?

In the words of Mr Punch, "That's the way to do it!".

You should end up with the tag EAW 1.04 (Beta Patch 1.03 - May 2019). The labelling confused the hell out of me also but it was worth persevering because it delivered up a playable, if far from perfect, game.
