Still cannot get my head around ammo being depleted. When I click on a tab for say a corp or army the info panel on the bottom right says 100% ammo but when I click on the nato symbol for an individual infantry unit in that corp or army the dialog that opens says ammo depleted for all of them - so do I have ammo or dont I?

I'm not quite sure I follow exactly where you are seeing full ammo etc., however it is important to remember that infantry and Cavalry units do not use or contain ammo. Only medium/heavy artillery units do (on land).
