replacement management

Dear EAW players,
The replacement stuff is still not clear to me. Let's say the replacement tab says youre missing 292 hits on a particular unit, how am I supposed to know how many replacement I need to buy to fully replace the lost hits...

I am not one to get overly-concerned about exact calculations, but I go by buying one chit for every 9 missing hits and having a few extra in reserve to immediately satisfy losses in a current turn. There is a percentage chance that after replacing hits, a chit will not be used up, so this is not an exact science as far as I know. In your case, I would try to have 42-48 chits in reserve. It also helps to have the units missing hits to be on a depot in green/green to prioritize receiving replacement chits.

Each time a hit is healed, there is a 10% chance of a chit being used, if my understanding of the engine rules is correct. So 1 chit = approximately 10 hits, but it's not exact.
To replace a destroyed element entirely always take an entire chit, and can only be done at depots.

One question : How do you manually replace a hit in a specific unit ? (I have read the manual cover to cover but I did not find any explanation of where you are supposed to click and so on..) Thank you
