General's Portraits

Hi I am sorry if this question has been asked before.

I'm new to this game, but not to AGEOD. CW2 is one of my favorite games and I have played it in depth, so I am giving this game a try hoping for the same gripping kind of game.

This question is purely about aesthetics, but I like knowing what the generals looked like and it brings the game alive for me. I notice that a lot of the generals have blank portraits, is this by design? Seems like especially with this more modern war we might know what they looked like? Is this something that will be changed in a patch, or maybe they can be given a generic face?

I know its just about looks, but again the pictures really do bring the game alive so I was hoping there was a mod or patch out there that may address this.

Thanks!

You might be right about that, some corps commanders are missing portrait. I looked at a random one in the french army, his name was Augustin Gérard. He has a wiki page and a picture: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augustin_G%C3%A9rard
I also noticed that many of those corps commanders have no named commanders at all. Not sure why.

I've added some of the missing portraits in this thread. Will add more in time.

Thank you so much for responding.

I also saw a couple of Generals that had no name, just General with something like this *^^ before where it said General.

I get that there is a lot of volume so I'm not criticizing, its just great there is a community here where was can look into this stuff.

Yes, that annoys me as well! I would like to work on a mod to fix this also, but I have a lot of other stuff going on, so it may take some time.

That's awesome, I'm glad I am not the only one!

I wish I knew how to mod these games, I'm going to have to study it for fun and see what happens. Do you know any good modding tutorials for these games?

Check out the modding forum, there's some stuff there.

Problem is that's it's kind of frustrating and tricky to mod AGEOD games even when you actually know what you're doing. The db structure is sub-optimal (a bunch of excel files really) and hard to work with. So you have to be pretty motivated. Not trying to discourage you, would love to have another modder interested in leaders, but am just trying to let you know what you're getting into ahead of time.

I wonder if we will get a patch for those portraits from the developer?

Otherwise you may be our best hope!

This reminds me of the "clone Generals" with a hat and mustache in CW2...if they were blank like this it would drive me crazy. At least they have a picture....
