Strategy help

Has anybody duplicated what the Germans did historically
in France in the first few months of the war?
I keep getting mauled by the B.E.F. and can only
get about as far as Lille without taking the town.
Also what strategy do you use for Antwerp?
Do you siege it with a corps or go all out to take it?
Thanks in advance.

This game is hard on the German historical plan. However, you can get beyond Lille. Careful play can put you deep into France.

For Antwerp, bring your big guns from Liege, these will do to take Antwerp.

I'm no expert but I just leave Antwerp in siege with a relatively small force. Everything goes to Paris. Usually get there. Hard part is taking it and hold supply lines in tack. Still I wonder is a 50 pt. hit for the WE fair re. taking Pairs? Would they have just rolled over I wonder, especially if they have 85% of the country under their control AND several effective armies not yet even tried in battle?

Well, the 1870 and 1940 campaigns show that they wouldn't. So we have two incidents, one before and one after the era in question, that the French crumbled once they lost their capital.

True indeed. It just seems even in my PBEM game that is maneuver and plop i'm on Paris. The only difference I think is that the casualties seems relatively low to get and quickly take pairs? Where as in history several armies were destroyed or captured. I guess it is more of a political collapse than a military one.
