NM towards 100

Shouldn't NM go towards 100 as turns go by? Both if you have high or low NM, as in PON. Perhaps not every turn, but with a probability (say 25-50%) to gain or lose 1% each turn. The swings are important after a big battle or decisions, but after a few months (many turns), soldiers should not be so psyched up or disheartened by past confrontations.
After all, the long term consequences of the war are portrayed by the alignment mechanism. Ideas?

NM stabilizes once you start getting down near 50 and the normalization process seems to become more robust the further from 50 you drop. I'm on the fence as to it being too easy to fall with the war weariness tag which hits everyone in 1915 or if it's well done.

Understood. I know I tend to confront each design decision with PON (because there I have the most experience and it is probably the most complex AGEOD title yet), I guess what you describe is the correct and appropriate abstraction for this game.
I just wanted to stress the two-fold nature of "war weariness"; NM, which is short-term, and can really influence the soldiers in the fields of battle, and national-rebel alignment, which abstracts the long-term will to fight of the entire nation.
War weariness from 1915 on should be a major theme, that's not a problem, unless it stops a game abruptly. Players have various instruments to stop (or reverse) the natural alignment fall, at least.

I always saw NM as representing exactly that, belief in victory. Whereas rebel alignment would be opposition to the current system of government.

Are you sure about the normalization starting near 50? In a PBEM game I am currently immersed within, as the WE, my NM is down near 35 (Sep 1916), and I can't remember ever seeing a move back towards 100% (version 1.0). Also, I was checking in the events, and I couldn't find a war resilience event anywhere.

You're in 1916, so it's simultaneously falling by 1 and rising by 1 if it keeps steady.

You can mouse over it and it will show why you lose or gain. So, I had a battle where I won 1 NM and lost 1 NM due to war weariness. Mousing over it even though it was the exact same last time since the net was zero, it still tells me what happened.

As for war weariness, I don't have too much problem with that. I have seen it go down some and not go down some, due to war weariness, so there is a random factor working. At 24 turns per year, it would take over 4 years to go from 100 to 0, if you lost 1 every turn. I don't have issues with that.

My thoughts exactly. Add in the normalization and you're at 30 NM. It's not great at all, but it's normal for all involved and at least adequately represents loss of confidence on the home front.

I haven't seen much if any normalization, and mine's at 35 (I can't remember the last turn where I had a plus, it's been at least 15 turns possibly 20). It just keeps going down and down.

Until it goes to 5. Five is the defeat limit, if I recall correctly. A nice abstraction cause it is if the decision to better spare the lives of the soldiers is taken, because remember in our PBEM in PON, Jim-NC, a nation with such low NM was fighting with soldiers made of dough!

My NM isn't doing so good, but my question is how often should it be going up? I see no resillience at all in the game. Maybe I am just unlucky, or maybe it has to go below 25, or some other limit. If others are getting resillience adds to NM, then my game may have a problem. I have already identified one (a locked region that should have been open - the Sea of Thracia). Maybe there are others that only we are having. I am not sure about this.

I don't think there is resilience in the game.
