I can't find Japanese support elements in the unit recruitment menu.

Did I missed something or one just can't?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. They get to fight in about 2 places and then the rest of the time they sit around. Unless countries like China, Belgium, or Holland go to the CP, you just don't have much to do with Japanese troops.

The game wouldn't let me move troops to the Egypt region.

Yeah, figured that out in my turn's log when I was told they were restricted to Pacific. My plan to have them "liberate" Iraq is screwed.

Still, I was wondering if it was by design or may be a symptom of something else.

You're welcome! They were the troops that took Tsingtau for me, and that got me an NM point, so they aren't useless and also, the Japanese fleet can patrol the Pacific and net you a couple or three NM points in naval battles, if you can catch a lesser German or Austrian fleet. I think they have earned me about 4-5 points due to naval victories.

I wonder if they can stand their ground against the Chinese.
