early war recon range

German recon squadrons have a 'combat range' of zero. However I have seen them make recon missions as far as three provinces away from base (Louvain, Belgium to Sedan).

So the 'combat range' has nothing to do with recon range?

And a related question: I thought early war recon planes had a shorter recon range. With three provinces the max range later in the war? That's what the manual implied.

Combat range and recon range are different things. Combat range probably refers to how far away you have to be before you can shoot someone (a 0 would mean they start firing only at range 0).

Not sure about the range changing for recon planes.
