Entente Fog of War

Playing as the Western Entente, I have a suggestion that would improve the experience. EAW's feature of splitting the Entente into two factions makes sense to me. There is enough to do as the Western Entente, that I do not miss playing the East. Historically, the two sides had little or no co-ordination between them.

However, the problem is that I have little or no idea, what is happening on the Eastern Front. Apart from reloading the game as the East, the only clue comes from studying the occupation flags. In the game, it would be useful to know if Warsaw has fallen or Serbia has been knocked out. Historically, each side had a pretty good idea of the other side due officers assigned as advisers, newspapers and embassy staff.

The easiest way to fix this would be to remove the fog of war from the non-player Entente faction. The West can see the East and the East can see the West.

Great game.

Agree completely, it would add a lot to the enjoyment factor of the game.

As far as I know, this is already in the game, at least as concerns strategic cities. Perhaps the team would agree to make such events "red texts" that will pop out, so as to make developments clearer.

If more of these messages would appear in the message log, creating a new category to place these kinds of messages in would be another option to keep the message log clear

Agreed.

I saw no such messages about the eastern front in 8 months playing as WE. Perhaps simply because no strategic cities changed hands. The eastern front has been pretty static, but I have no idea if that means nothing is going on or if it is a bloody stalemate.

He is talking about removing the fog of war from the map. Currently the west can't see the east and the east cannot see the west. Reading a few lines of text isn't really very informative, players should be able to see the map too and inspect armies and whatnot.

Check the Objectives screen, you should at least be able to see Russian casualties and thus get perhaps a general idea.

That's a good start. If we could seperate the CP casualties between the two fronts, it would still be better.

But the tools we have at hands now are

1) Not very practical
2) Not very immersive

So I guess there is room for improvements here :)

Having an option to turn off FOW for the other Entente side would be a great addition to the game.

I don't think this is a needed feature. Using the national borders map filter you can gauge how the CP and the other Entente are doing while still not knowing the exact whereabouts of the other armies. This is the most realistic approach.

Fair point. Perhaps FOW also could be lifted on the Strategic Map (in the ledger). That would at least give you an idea of who is where.
