Scrolling Stacks North-South vs East-West

Since the patch, I've notices scrolling stacks during a turn ("E" and "R" keys or "<<" and ">>" buttons) now scroll north-south rather than east-west. When playing the Union, I find east-west scrolling to make more sense; theaters in the first two years of the war are generally based on longitude. Is there a reason for the switch? I do not like it. Can it be changed back - either officially or by changing a setting?

Is there any chance this will be changed? Does it bother anyone else?

I don't use the keyboard for navigation, so I haven't noticed.

I use the keyboard for navigation all the time myself.
I can't say that I remember any change. I guess that it doesn't bother me... not that it shouldn't get changed back, though.

Most turns I only use the keyboard. I have dozens of independent stacks and I would forget them if I didn't use the "e" and "w" keys extensively. Scrolling East-West means that I get to scroll through theaters, so I don't select units on the board unless I have a unit that is on a multi-turn move that I wish to interdict. In any case, I really hate the new way it works.
