Rail lines not working around Atlanta

Pictured here are the rail lines in the northern portion of Georgia, around Atlanta:

The graphics suggest that there is a rail line running from Atlanta to the Banks, GA region to the east of the Oconee River (just east of Athens and Eatonton). However, using Move By Rail I can't actually get 1 day per region transit through Coweta and Clark regions into Banks:

Indeed, I can't even get the unit to path directly from Coweta to Clark at all!

Going from Atlanta to Eatonton works as expected, however:

There's a missing rail link between Atlanta and Eatonton (the town names), do you know which regions these are?

Not off hand. How do you find the region id's?
I think that there's a missing everything link between Cowers and Clark (Eatonton). Alternately, the cost of movement between the two is just too high (actually, that's probable now that I think about it, since I was using rail movement).

Turn on error logging. That will show the region numbers and names when you hover over them.

Coweta: 425
Clark/Eatonton: 418
Banks: 407
Dawson/Athens: 405
Atlanta: 416
Bartow: 417

So I would say that the link between Atlanta (416) and Eatonton (418) is broken based on what you have provided.

I had a wee look and it looks like the region of Coweta is supposed to have railroad but doesn't, thats why rail movement snaps away to avoid movement through this region... all the regions around it seem to be ok...

The Railroad graphic has always gone across that corner of Coweta, GA, but in AACW if you used rail movement you would go directly from Bartow to Clark(Eatonton) and visa-verse.

Well... um. Since the graphic is there, shouldn't the rail line actually be there as well?

I complained about the graphic not fitting to the situation way, way, back in AACW and got the answer that the graphic was not the last arbitrator in the situation and basically to just move on; so I did.

I tried to read and understand the region files, but I cannot comprehend them more than just at a very rudimentary level.

Pocus, this is one I cannot help with, sorry.

But if you're going to do some fixing on the map, here are some other minor and not so minor issues:

Archer Young, TX (region 1218): no link to Jack, TX (region 1219); no direct movement possible.
Jack, TX (region 1219): no link to Archer Young, TX (region 1218); no direct movement possible.
Morris, KS (region 1485): no link to Harvey, KS (region 1490; no direct movement possible. There is a link from Harvey to Morris.
Boyd, KY (region 566): Has obvious Railroad graphic; is not a railroad region.
Montgomery, NY (region 107): Has obvious Railroad graphic and is in the middle of a rail line; is not a railroad region.
Androscoggin, ME (region 17: Has obvious Railroad graphic and is in the middle of several rail lines; is not a railroad region.

Maybe they can all get fixed in one wash-up :p oke:

:siffle:

I don't mind working on these, but someone will have to explain the poly/triangle system to me. It's not as simple in all cases as matching adjacency <-> poly <-> region. I've tried drawing the coordinates on a graph and I wasn't making sense of it. The Translinks are simple enough, but I'm not sure I understand JumpLinks.

Actually this should be easy to fix, at least I think. Just change region database to have rail.

I sure can't find the instructions for generating new info from the region database. CSVsplitter is not what you'd call user-friendly. I'd change the info elsewhere if I knew where it was stored, but it doesn't appear to be in the region files that I can see.

... nevermind, I found where the end result is, at least. I still don't know how to use CSVsplitter to generate the script for cities, but the include file for the city setups has the definitions for transport networks.
