How to set up and host a PBEM game? Disregard please

MY game has just been updated to 1.04 via the autoupdate tool, but I cannot start a PBEM game as in the save directory there are no .trn files and when I save my Union turn it is stored as the US.ord file. Apparently I may enter the game as the rebel side, save there and send to my opponent his .ord file, but that;s against everything I have experienced and encountered in AGEOD games.
