PBEM Problems

I have a couple of PBEM games and both have suddenly encountered problems with my opponents not being able to process my orders. Recently I turned the AI off to run some tests. Could this cause the problem?

Yes, this may cause it, at least it did for me. Both you and your opponent should have same turn AI on or off settings

Thanks, I will put AI back on and go from a backup.

Our game now runs if we have the AI turned off. How can we get back to a situation where the game will run with AI turned back on?

Failing that, does it make any difference if we now just have to remember that the game will only run with AI off?

it might, I'd suspect the Indians are a non-player faction and with the AI off, they might go passive, since neither of your order sets will encompass their actions - but that is a pure guess.

As Ace above, you both need to make the same decision about the AI, I seem to recall the on/off switch is accessed from the loading screen

Ok if we play now with AI off, no IND are generated. Does this matter in a PBEM?

If I have AI on and try to resolve I get the warning 'do you want AI player', if I say yes it appears the turn resolves ok and the IND files are generated.

So when I have a PBEM with CSA ord and USA ord but I get the 'do you want AI player' question is it refering to the IND AI only? That is will it still process CSA and USA normally?

I did this and it seems ok BUT now I get a 'Military Mode' message flash up breifly when the new turn begins. What is that?

Maybe its just better to go back to a turn when the AI was active last. What a damn nuisance. And no warning in the manual about this.

Help.

Further experimentation indicates that if I ignore the first AI warning and just resolve (assuming I had AI off and now have turned it back on) then everything resolves ok and from that point on as long as I leave AI on and my opponent does so then all is good.

Does this sound ok to those that know better?

It seems that is the case. It seems the warning do you wish to revert to AI is about Indians and Brits(potentially), so you might click yes: it would be best if both players keep AI settings on if you double host.

About the manual, I am not sure this was an intended feature - so obviously no manual reference. The important thing is we figured it out. Be sure to mention it on Matrix forum as well as there may be other players with the same questions :) .

My AI is staying on permanently :)
