How does one to use the Republican fleet?

Other than sending a cruiser to the convoy box, or evacuating troops from Majorca, and an occasional shore bombardment, what role can they play?

I suggest, taking troops to Majorca, especially a good leader. Blockade a port you are attempting to siege. Sneaking units to regions the Nationalist forgot to take.
