Civil War II has been updated to version 1.6.3!

This update fixes a bug experienced by the community for a long time:

-Fixed replacement bug introduced in previous version.

Good to see an upgrade.

A quick attempt seems to indicate that saved games in progress from the earlier iteration will be lost--is this the case?

I haven't installed 1.06.3 public release yet, but I didn't see any issues with the beta version. I'll have to try it out.

Well, it should not invalidate your saved game, this is just a tiny fix (but of importance)

It's not a big deal but I believe the fix ran an uninstall and wiped the Save folder clean as one would expect. It caught me by surprise as I simply used the Update function on the game menu to get the new patch.

I've never seen a patch, fix, quick-fix, or anything else touch your Saves folder.

The only thing I can think of, is that you were using the Saves folder directly under CW2 (IIRC you delete 'userpath.ini' file in your installation folder to indicate you wish to use the 'old style' Saves folder '..\CivilWarII\CW2\Saves\', which doesn't play well with some Windows installations), and the patch reinstated that file, which would tell the game to use 'c:\Users\{user}\Documents\My Games\CivilWarII\CW2\Saves' for Saves, which then will not find any of your saved scenarios.

That must have been it.

So, your saves are in '..\CivilWarII\CW2\Saves\'? I'd suggest moving them to 'c:\Users\{user}\Documents\My Games\CivilWarII\CW2\Saves' and save yourself any more issues

You're right, I just checked and found various saved games from earlier iterations there though not my most recent before the upgrade. I had quite forgotten about that. It's been a few years since I've been into CW II; a few ACW gift books at Xmas have rekindled my passion for the subject, not to mention the fact that the AGEOD study is in a class of it's own re historicity and play dynamics.
