Align Options on different hosts

Hi
can anyone tell me if all in-game options are saved within the General.opt file?
And is it a problem to place copies of that file on all hosts?
I'm doing a PBEM with switching hosts and want to make sure that options like the AI settings are the same on both hosts.
Cheers

All the ones you can set from within the game are in the General.opt file, but also a number of them you would not want to copy from one installation to another. You don't want to be copying the game key and last loaded scenario because of the path it contains.

The safest thing to do would be to take a screen shot of each page under options from the first host and have the second host set his options accordingly.

If you are hosting more than one game with different settings on one PC, you could enter the setting for one game and then copy the General.opt file off to a safe place. Then make the settings for the next game and copy that General.opt file to a different safe place.

Then before hosting a turn, you simply copy the correct General.opt file back and run the turn. You just have to be careful to always copy the correct file before turn execution.

To keep my games/options separate I use multiple copies of the game, whether they be single player, multi, or test versions. I just copy the entire game folder and rename it.

Oh my goodness, 2.8GB extra file system usage to have a 3Kb file be unique Image.

If you are able to implement Cygwin, I can provide a script, which you can use to create an identical folder structure as an installation in a selected location and then make Symbolic Links of all the original files, except the Settings folder, so that the Symbolic Link copy of the installation only uses a fraction of the original disk space.

Hey - Sometimes I change some script or option files too, so the difference between the copies can get as high as 100kb! ITS HUGE!

Ya, I know, back in the old days such frivolous use of 3gb of storage used to mean something... It used to be a struggle to find the room for my massive music collection, now its a grain of sand on the beach. Decades ago, :p apy: , I remember reading Arthur C. Clarke, he speculated that it would take 7TB to store the entire human brain. When 8TB hard drives came out I bought two because I have always been enamored with the idea of being able to store my own brain ever since I read about the concept back when I was a kid. Sadly, the software to upload my brain isn't here yet, so now I have 13TB of free space... Thanks for your generous offer of the script, but I've got enough wiggle room for now, I hope.
