Buchanan the traitor - I thought this got fixed?

So I lost Norfolk to Athena. I rushed troops in to hold it and
she took it back. Of course then the Virginia shows up there
with Buchanan. I sent forces back in to take it and did, then
noticed this. I thought this got fixed in beta testing! Not that
I'm complaining, my Union James River fleet starts early with
a leader :)

I can't remember having see this issue addressed with a solution by Pocus. Even if my memory might be failing--(Error: DIMM MB/P0/Ch1/D0: ecm errors exceed acceptable limits  )--, it's obvious that the issue is still present.

Being that Pocus seems to have his hands full with WON at the moment, I wouldn't expect to see a solution in the foreseeable future.

I wonder, can the South still see Buchanan in his unit lists? Does the North see him?

Can the North move Buchanan outside of a Union stack normally? Remember, leaders have detection value of 0, so a leader in a region where you otherwise have no detection value (friendly loyalty, friendly units nearby) is invisible and can only be selected through the unit list.

I have also had Buchanan see the light and realise the rebellion is doomed

Can confirm he seems to effectively become a Union admiral

- Can be moved
- Can be placed in charge of fleets

Not sure if he applies his stats to the stack he is in but I expect so

For me it happened when Norfolk was retaken when the Ironclad is still being built .. so as part of that capture process

Yep, it's true. Haven't tried to see if he can form an infantry division though. I
will just for the heck of it.

An interesting quirk of the game, not really worthy of notice by the devs. It
only happens when you capture the Virginia being built. But I do remember
this happening once in beta and Pocus knowing about it. Oh well. Call it
"flavor" :neener:

That's what I was afraid of Image

For as long as there is no official solution, this falls under the category of 'house-rules'.

Having a script for each faction which runs every turn and checks if one faction has control over a leader which he shouldn't have, ie. check individually for each and every leader, would be like hunting sparrows with a battery of 8.8cm Flak Image.

On a case by case basis, one could easily write a script selecting a 'captured' leader, removing him from the capturing side and spawning him again in the capital of the correct side.

In taking New Orleans Admiral Hollins became so dispirited he switched
sides too! Oh, and BTW, Buchanan was not able to form a division,
but he can lead a corps! :mdr:

Also, when I use either leader to command a Union Fleet on the map the
fleet appears Confederate. I guess Athena doesn't know how to cope with
displaying traitors.
