Hey guys,
I recently started to have interest in american history, especially the civil war I would like to get to know more about it deeply. Is there any good documentary you can recommend.
I am from germany and it looks like we just dont have enough good footage about civil war.
Btw, what is here different in this game compared to TEAW ? I am thinking about to get CV2
Regards

If I wanted to be technical, I'd tell you to post this in the History sub-forum.... o well.
For Civil War documentaries, I grew up with the Smithsonian Battle Series on VHS...which I just found was posted on Youtube!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_D03PpO0PkYOf course the go to documentary would be Ken Burn's The Civil War.
As far as the game compared to TEAW, the two share the same mechanics and play style. CW2 came out first, but the two shared a common patching process. I find CW2 a bit simpler to play.
And if you ever need a match...send me a pm.

Ken Burns. It's so good it changed the way documentaries are made.
But, as with any large important time period, you can jump in pretty much anywhere and find something good. My father used to subscribe to
Civil War Times Illustrated, which gave very good in-depth analysis of very small details of the Civil War.
Point being- don't feel the need to learn all of it. Learning a lot about small parts can be fun too.

For depth you requirea book or books, not a documentary. Btw a civil war is when 2 sections of a society seek to control the whole, the War between the States is a more acurate term as the CS States fought to leave the Union using the same unilateral rights as they had excercised in leaving the Articles of Confederation, 9 RI and NC nvr gave consent toleave the AOC which requires all sttaes to give todissolve itself)and had excercised in 1689 when they electd by popular vote in Sttae concentions,to change who their sovereign was, 1643 when they again vote in concenbtion to follow crown or Parliment as being the sovereign authority they owe allegiance too.

Most of the speakers in the C-SPAN series are discussing info from their books. The Union Artillery and Railroad programs are a sort of Cliff notes version of those authors' works. Really great info about the War between the States.
