In a recent game, US Grant assaulted New Orleans with a sizable CSA naval fleet docked inside. He seized the city by storm. The CSA fleet included five ironclads along with many wooden warships. The entire fleet changed sides along with the fleet commanders. It was my understanding combat fleets do not surrender but are destroyed. And certainly I should have jailed the traitorous Reb Commanders instead of providing them signing bonuses for joining the Union.

Thoughts?

That happened to me in early beta testing. I took Norfolk and Buchanan
joined the Union along with the CSS Virginia! There are some bugs in the
recent update, obviously. Lack of aggression on Athena's part being the
most important.

I had this happen to me once in the beta for 1.05. As the CSA I had Forrest capture Foote in Paducah. I think I only captured under construction ships though.
