XXXXX would be a department command in CW2, but is actually standard NATO for an Army Group (multiple armies, which are XXXX in the same system).

XXX = Corps
XX = Division
X = Brigade
III = Regiment
II = Battalion
I = Company

CW2 is not following the NATO codification in the force list screen (e.g. CW2 is not going to the company/battalion level), it is just an approximation of the stack size. As far as I can remember (please double check, I'm not in front of the game) :

XXXXX = Corps or Army stack.
XXX = Stack containing a division.
XX = ?
III = ?
II = Multi regiments stack.
I = Single regiment stack (e.g. militia).
... = Single battery stack.
