When you click on a Army, Corps or Division and the adjacent areas are RED, what is this telling me? Thanks!

It means you can't move in these areas because you don't have sufficient Military Control (I don't remember how at the moment but there is a way to know what is the minimum MC required).

Sometimes you can change this status by removing slow elements (supply wagons, siege artillery) from your stack.

I thought that it was a Zone of Control situation. If you are in a region with a large enemy force, especially within a fort, then your force is sort of pinned down. You can't continue moving until you bring an equal force there or force the enemy to withdraw, or you are forced to withdraw.

You are right, this happens when there is a large ennemy force in your region (as you say, a kind of ZoC).

Depending on the size of the ennemy force you won't be able to move in a region if your MC is not above a specific value (I think you cann see it by hovering the mouse cursor on one of the icons in the right pane when selecting your force : sorry, I'm not in front of the game so I can't do a screen copy, I'll try to do it later).

As I wrote it previously, sometimes you can change this MC threshold by removing some units from your stack.

Here is an example showing what I was trying to explain in my previous post :

In this case there is no restriction but if there is one it will be described there.

You can also sometimes change this MC threshold by sending a cavalry or other mobile unit into the area that is red for your main force.

A better example from an old PBEM :

Grant is in the same region as Lee and he can only move into a region with 79% Union Military Control.
