Travails of a Newbie

Hi All...

I've been posting here (a bit) but mostly lurking and trying to soak up all I can from the collective knowledge up here on the AGEOD forum. It occurred to me that I never really introduced myself, so take this as my formal intro.

I've been a wargamer all my life, but this is the first AGEOD game I have run across. In a word, they are EXCELLENT! Playable, balanced, historically accurate, DEEP and FUN!

As a pure coincidence, I went to school 4 years at Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA. The college literally sits on the First Day battlefield on north edge of town (still). The main (and only) college building at the time, now called Pennsylvania Hall was a field hospital. Of course, the old seminary -- which predated the college and which is not part of the 4-year college, played a prominent role on the first day, a la, Gen. Buford and co. who used it as a convenient observation post. It sits on Seminary Ridge just on the West/Northwest outskirts of town. Just this year, it opened as the newest museum at the battlefield park. I recommend you check it out if you are ever in town. It's excellent.

The college nickname is the Bullets, hence my handle on here. I didn't go there because of the battlefield, but it was a nice happenstance, as a Civil War buff, to spend 4 years there.

Please indulge my stupid questions as I run up the learning curve on this great game. Where I can, I'll chime in where I feel I have something to contribute.

So, officially -- Hello!

Hello to you too. I live in Belgium near the frontline of the battlefields in Flanders of WWI.
Military cemeteries even in the small village where I live.

Welcome! I'm here off and on, mostly lurking and sometimes posting. Always good to see a new face and some of these guys give really good advice. Don't follow my advice. You'll end up in a ditch with no shovel.

Hello, funny short story, I'm such a Civil War buff, that I brought my wife to Gettysburg on our honeymoon 40 years ago. She still gets mad at me for that.

I am taking her there on vacation, she doesn't know it yet. That made me laugh though that was good!

P.S. My wife that is!

Amazing!

Me in 1978, brother in 1973, sister-in-law 1976, nephew in 1998, son in 2013. Most of my family went to Lehigh, but my brother started the G-Burg thing. Now 5 of us can call ourselves Bullets!

Welcome to the forums. CW2 is a great game.
