Franklin Buchanan for the Union?

Fighting as Union, I’ve captured Norfolk in October of 1961 and have found the rebs building the CSS Virginia. It looks like I’ve captured the ship under construction, which is great. What is more, Franklin Buchanan is here and near as I can tell, he has offered his services to me. Is this real? Might he double-cross me?

Buchanan joining you sounds like an event bug, you should post this to tech support and attach a save game file to the post.

They are aware of it, it's been reported. It happens if he is captured with the ship. They might at least offer him some blue uniform :)

IRL he tried to withdraw his resignation from the USN when Maryland didnt secede. ;)

Could this happen with a General who is merged with a brigade reduced to artillery elements only?

Ah, well its helpful to me, I guess. I've loaded him up with some extra monitors for good measure and am taking nominations to re-name the CSS Virginia. I'm thinking something sardonic, perhaps the CSS West Virginia?

A number of generals in the South could have fought for the North, it would be a fun mod to have some generals randomly offer their services to the other side.
