Promotion failure

Last turn, late November 1861 Grant** led a stack that won a battle at Island No.10. In the orders phase of early December I got a message saying he had moved up in seniority and was eligible for promotion. I duly selected him and clicked the 'promote' button. Now in late December he is still a two star in rank. What is going on?

Could you post a save game with current and previous turn?

Did you move him? Needs to remain stationary for the turn I think, also may need to be in his own stack, so no other leaders with him.

No, you can move and be promoted. Also in CW2 you don't need to pull the leader out of the stack, if you promote only one leader a turn in said stack. Be sure to select him specifically though before clicking on promote.
