Corps formation and a few other Questions- Help Please

Last turn I enabled 2 star leaders A and B to be corps commanders attached to Army X. This turn both flash red when X is selected, but I am unable to assign divisions to either A or B.
1. Do the divisions have to be in the same stack as the corps commander prior to enabling corps command?
2. If not, how do I attach divisions to corps commanders on subsequent turns?
3. How do I rotate divisions into and out of the corps once it is formed?
4. What is maximum number of divisions allowed per corps, and corps per Army?
5. I have noticed that some of the Divisions will not allow attaching units up to 18 elements - is this WAD for some of the commanders?
6. Some of the larger artillery units seem not to be able to attach to divisions.
Much thanks

Huh?! Flashing red just means subordinated corps to selected army. WAD
1. No.
2. just put the divisions into the corps (by left clicking & holding the mouse button and moving it over to a) the corps icon on map, or b) the corps icon in the unit panel or c) its named tab). You can also move (all) division elements to the corps and then create the div. When you move the corps leader out of the stack, he'll take the corps attributes with him, leaving behind just a stack). The corps leader IS the corps.
3. like described in 2.
4. No limit I think, that is beyond the 35% command penality.
5. Never seen this before, maybe some of it's elements are fixed?
6. Like fixed coastal arty? No use in divs anyway.
Best regards

5. One possible explanation : a brigade made of several elements and loosing one of them in combat will still count for the max number of elements (because the element may be added later through replacement).

5) The divisional limit of 18 elements includes the division leader.

5. Also, if the artillery you tried to place in the division was a captured battery it will not go into the division. Union batteries have more guns and are more powerful than the CSA ones. It would also be a slightly darker color.

At some point, there were two caps. Beside maximum number of elements(regiments), there was a cap of maximum number of brigades (units). I think it was rather high number, so the second cap would be reached only if you formed division out of almost excslusively single regiments brigades. I do not know if the cap is still there. Any way, if you post a save game, more definite answer could be given.

CW II Manual, "Army Organization" (pages 28-35 in the dead tree version), can be quite helpful here.

Here is my confusion: it seems that the only requisite for a division to be part of a corps is to be in the same region, correct? If a division moves into the region of the corps commander it automatically benefits, and if it leaves the region it becomes independent.
Further, it seems like there is no limit to the number of corps able to be attached to a single army - correct, and this with no penalty.

There is a limit of corps, it depends on the strategic rating of the army commander.
The divisions must be inside the corps stack to be part of it, it is independent when it is outside.
