How is actually the total power calculated by the game?
Here, however, I have units with 34 and 30 power - with no penalty to the stack- but CWII shows me 72 in total.

Maybe a percentage of the drunkard Sibley accounts for 8 additional CP? Might possible. Let's hope it's being explained in an updated version of the manual.

Sibley is providing a 5% boost. He's a 3-1-1, right? The first 1 is a 5% boost to attack, and the second 1 is a boost to defense. If you want to see it in action, attach Sibley to one of your units and watch its effectiveness rise.

There probably not a hand full of people on the earth that know fully what is going on under this games hood. This is a great game but only about 75% of its rules are revealed.

Why the different value information?

The unit alone has power value of 11. I presume that with the stacks 5% penalty its pwr value drops to 10.

So the stack has less pwr than the unit because of it.

If so, then that is unnecessarily complicated - isn't it?

No, not really, especially since that number doesn't actually have anything to do with combat, as it's just an estimate for the player. Does your strategy change because your militia has a power of 10 instead of 11?

Not for one point.
But what about if there is 20, 50, 100 points difference?

The reason we have that top number is so that you don't have to go through the process of adding up your units "power" strength manually. The top number takes into account leadership bonus, troops, and command penalty. It's easy to see a discrepancy between the two numbers if you have just one unit in a stack, and usually easy to deduce why there's a difference, but imagine a Corps with 4 divisions. You would have to add up every individual division/loose elements, apply division bonuses, than Corps bonuses etc.. CW2 does it for you with that top number.

The unit value will not display fractions anyway, so with the rounding up, even if we considered showing the modified unit value because of command penalty, you would not be able anyway to add up the sum of units values and get the stack value.
