Sorry friends, I forgot the actual key to remove the counters.......couldn't seem to find it in the manual.

Here they are:

CTL-F1: hide locked and fixed units
CTL-F2: hide enemy stacks and fleets
CTL-F3: hide friendly land units
CTL-F4: hide all stacks and fleets
