Next turn not working / Crashes to main menu / Zombie army

Hi,

I am on turn 32 in the Marius vs Sulla vs Pontus scenario. I am playing as Marius (Populares). For several turns, I have been getting a zombie army in the Numidian front. I occupied every region in Numidia and I won a battle against the Numidian army (which, I think, shouldnt have been able to flee into another region, since I had 100% control in every Numidian region). So I had all Numidian regions under my control, with detection value = 2, and no enemy army is in sight. However, every turn, out of the blue appears this zombie army.

And then on turn 32 I push the "Next turn" button and it crashes into the main menu. I've reloaded it once and again, I've re-started the computer, but I cannot get to the next turn. I think there is a problem with this ghost army, which appears right now in a province where I have no unit but it shows I have 100% military control (!) over it.

Is this problem known to the developers? I can send you whatever info you need, but I just don't know how.

Thank you very much in advance.

Regards,

Hi, sorry for your troubles.

The only to maybe understand your problem is for you to post a save game (before the crash) with at least a backup. Also, the Mail Log file (located on logs subfolder) would be useful (the one created right after the crash without restarting the game.

Meantime, if you are not already, I suggest you try the 1.04 beta patch and check if the problem remains.

Please find the Saves and Logs files in the attachment. I am playing with the (automatically updated) Spanish FX-Interactive retail version of Alea Jacta Est.

Hi / Hola

I see that your FX game is not uptodate. It seems they remained in version 1.02, while the official version/patch is 1.03c (and the beta patch is 1.04). I suggest you should be playing with the latest version(s)

Nevertheless, I see that the problem is that your hst file (of the saved game) has zero bytes of size, and the log says it is "being used by other application".

This is a problem that sometimes occurs, and seems to be caused either by your windows UAC (I have it turned off) and 7 or by your anti-virus software (the whole AJE folders and files should be exempted from any automatic or real time scanning). To continue your game you will probably have to revert to backup 1 and continue again from there

Thank you very much for your quick answer (¡muchas gracias!). I have tried to exempt AJE folders from UAC control and antivirus and it works now with the backup file. However, two perceived problems exist: you have a "ghost" enemy unit in one of your areas under your control (I mean, it should be in the enemy's control if the enemy is the only one there, isn't it? Or is it because they are on defense mode? Anyway, why could they disappear and re-appear again if I have detection value = 2?). On the other hand, the "fast-forward" button (Repeat last turn) does not work. Is that button supposed to work in single-player mode?

Hi

Sorry for a late answer, real life got in the way.

- I think in patch 1.03 cav detection values were improved. Playing with your game with my 1.04 version, Juba's army in Numidia is visible. I chased it with the armies there, they clashed and the little unsupplied army of Juba was destroyed and Juba killed. I urge you to patch your game :)

- As to the replay, it is OFF by default. You have to activate it in the Options panel of the main menu, Media tab
