Will this game be compatible with Windows 8? I know the specs say Windows xp and above, but I know sometimes when things first come out experiences can be dodgy. I did a cursory search around the forum but didn't find anything specific to AJE..Unless I'm a dunce and totally missed something, which is entirely possible.
Has anyone tried running it on 8 yet?

No, October 26th I believe. Just the release preview is out now, I didn't know if any beta folks had tinkered with it and AJE. I'm contemplating purchasing the upgrade to 8, so I just thought I'd ask about compatibility, for future reference

I've run WIA (with the latest patch) on my laptop upgraded to Win8 without any problems. Seems a little bit faster than on Win7 before.

AAWC, WIA, AJE, PON, and Napoleon all work on my Windows 8 Pro 64-bit system. So does Scourge of War, for that matter. Very fluid OS ... no compatibility problems of any kind, really.

I've got all my AGEOD games plus WW1 working on Windows 8 laptop.
Be careful of buying HP laptops - I had major problem with a update it does about 48 hours after purchase. Google "windows 8 update stuck on 13% HP laptop to see the issue" eventually resolved after a complete re-install.
